Amanda & Steve are getting married in just a few days at Pomme in Radnor. We met up in the fall for their Northern Liberties engagement session. The light this afternoon was just incredible. And it held up for the entire evening. Everywhere we went in their neighborhood was better than the last spot! After shooting for a few hours we hopped an Uber back to their house and shared some homemade wine that Amanda & Steve had fermented and bottled on their own. It was so good and Steve even sent me home with a bottle of my own. There will of course be plenty of Amanda & Steve’s wine flowing on Saturday during their wedding reception. You guys killed it on this engagement session. Let’s do it all over again on Saturday! See you both very soon.
Becky, Brendan and I met at their home for their Conshohocken engagement session in early September. The evening was beautiful and warm and we hit the streets with a plan to just walk the neighborhood and shoot what we saw along the way. It worked out perfectly and we made some beautiful, joyful images together that really captured the fun loving bond between these two. Becky & Brendan are getting married in just Two days in New York’s Hudson Valley at The Clubhouse at Patriot Hills. It’s looking as though we will have torrential rain most of the day on Saturday which is not ideal. But I just spoke with Becky & Brendan last night about the forecast and they were in a “roll with it” mindset. We can’t control the weather. But we can plan for it and be prepared to make the most of what Mother Nature hands us that day. No matter what the weather is like, Becky & Brendan are excited to get married and celebrate with all of their closest family and friends. It’s all that really matters in the end. See you guys in a couple days. Get those umbrellas ready!
Erin & Steve’s Philadelphia Art Museum engagement session was kinda not really at the Art Museum. I think we decided that we would meet near the Philadelphia Museum of Art and that the best place to do so would be around the back of the museum near the Waterworks Restaurant. Well once we got there the light looked good by The Waterworks and all along the river so we never actually made it up the hill to the art museum. Instead we spent our time taking engagement pictures near the restaurant and along the banks of the Schuykill River as the sun set. It was a very beautiful night and we got so many great photos for Erin & Steve. This type of thing happens often during a photo shoot. We will set up a specific spot only to find that the light and scenery may be working better at a different spot near the original location. Being flexible and open to whatever the day throws your way is one step in the right direction to getting relaxed, comfortable looking portraits. We would never steer you wrong in selecting only the best location for your portrait session! And for sure, we will hit any spot that you definitely want to hit. But sometimes being open to the unexpected and going with the flow can lead to some really spectacular images that we can create together!
Kim & Greg’s New York City engagement session took place on a warm May afternoon near their Upper East Side apartment. I took the train up in the morning and we spent the rest of the day walking their neighborhood out to the East River, taking photos in the 86h street subway station, in and around Columbus Circle on the outskirts of Central Park and finally finishing up in the early evening at The Paris Theater. I love doing engagement sessions in Manhattan. One benefit of having me come to New York is that we wil spend the entire afternoon together just walking, talking and of course taking photos. With engagement sessions locally we do the same thing of course. But local sessions usually last about 90 minutes or so. When I make the trip to NYC we schedule the whole day off for your engagement session. So, while there is a bit of an added travel expense, you really make out as the entire day is dedicated to doing one thing…..taking your engagement photos and talking all things wedding!
Kim & Greg’s wedding has come and gone. It took place in November at The Carriage House at Rockwood Park in Wilmington Delaware. There will be plenty to see from their wonderful wedding in the coming months. But for now, enjoy this springtime New York City Engagement Session!
